The Confessions series is designed to introduce a successful woman. Regardless of her age, race, religion, class, ethnicity, or wealth; just a successful woman with her own definition of success. From a young entrepreneur to a mature woman with a blissful career, all of them are role models
I met Alicia at a lecture at the University of Miami. It will sound kind of strange but from the first moment we were introduced I knew we were going to be connected in some way. During our conversation she mentioned she was a coach. I had the idea of taking a coaching course, but didn’t know exactly what it was about. I decided to take a couple of sessions with her. The results were amazing. I never thought I needed a coach, that is the irony of the process. I not only needed a coach, but it was the solution to the frozen moment I was going through in my life. Maybe if I had selected a different person the results would had been different, but Alicia, in her subtle and delicate way, was able to create a connective tissue with me. She was able to open my mind so I could see what was stopping me from my ultimate purpose. For that, and for being my friend, I will always be grateful.
During the last five decades, I’ve believed that whatever I put my mind to, I can succeed. My journey has taken me from dental hygienist to custom homebuilder, from Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Actors’ TV commercial and voiceover actress to internationally-registered Bach flower remedy coach-educator, published scientific researcher, author and holistic personal achievement coach. When doors opened with new opportunities, I followed with my intuition, heart and sense of purpose. When I became a partner in my husband’s homebuilding company and enjoyed the many benefits of his mentoring, the unique freedom, independence and ability to work creatively in a sector of the business and finance world was exciting and rewarding. Yet, serving others has always been a passion and the nearly two decades of coaching work I do now is aligned with my true calling. Throughout my life, I’ve gained the wealth that comes from failing and learning lessons that facilitate growth and change – the kind that leads to even greater internal awareness, consciousness and joy.
What role does work play in your life?
I’m lucky to be able to do work that is also my passion and life’s purpose. As a personal achievement coach, my work is fulfilling because I’m in a position to help career-minded women live more boldly and achieve greater work-life balance.
If you could solve any problem, what would it be?
The stress and pain felt by women all over the world who lack the skills, knowledge and understanding to experience a positive outlook, self-love, self-acceptance, and self-confidence.
What have been non-financial influences on your efforts to build wealth?
My unquenchable thirst for perpetual learning, healthy relationships built on trust and my ongoing quest for personal growth.
What do you most enjoy in terms of spending?
Making a difference by donating funds or materials goods to someone I know personally who is financially challenged.
What can money not buy?
Love, health, vibrancy, time, courage, wisdom, joy, intuition, inner peace and valued friendships built on love and commitment.
What defines someone else as wealthy?
Using a holistic model, I like to define wealth as a state of being that includes life balance and success alongside financial wealth. Where the state of one’s health, satisfaction, joy, relationships, compassionate service to others and the fulfillment of a life passion is an integral part of one’s wealth.
My wealth makes me feel….
Filled with gratitude for the freedom and the flow to do things for myself and others with a sense of ease and limitlessness.
What part has your gender played in the development of your wealth?
It is because of my gender that I have been so successful in developing a wealthy mindset. Being raised as a strong, bold woman has given me the strength and experience to help other women overcome gender expectations and cultivate a sense of balance in their professional and personal lives. And I am honored to help other women break through their resistance to wealth while shattering their own limiting beliefs.
